DOJ: Hamas Crypto Seizures Top $560,000 as FBI Assumes Control of Fundraising Platforms

FBI agents seized control of domains and servers, notably Alqassam.ps, to intercept donations and block further fundraising for the Al-Qassam Brigades.

    • The DOJ confiscated more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency tied to Hamas, stating it dismantled terror financing through targeted crypto warrants executed in 2025.
    • FBI agents seized control of domains and servers, notably Alqassam.ps, to intercept donations and block further fundraising for the Al-Qassam Brigades.
    • Operations relied on human intelligence to monitor rotating crypto addresses, compiling data on thousands of individuals attempting to finance the group.

The U.S. Justice Department announced it has confiscated over $560,000 in cryptocurrency earmarked for Hamas and seized control of domains and servers leveraged by the group to gather funds and recruit sympathizers.

The department unveiled five affidavits alongside the announcement on Wednesday. Three, dated March 25, June 25, and October 10, 2025, detail the crypto warrants accounting for the $560,000.

The remaining two, dated July 29 and August 18, 2026, address the infrastructure seizures.

According to court documents, investigators deployed human sources to pinpoint and trace rotating crypto addresses disseminated through an encrypted group chat and fundraising website.

The first of those actions recovered approximately $201,400 from wallets and accounts connected to a system that had transferred more than $1.5 million since October 2024, the department disclosed at the time. The addresses were purportedly controlled on behalf of Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades.

The FBI also confiscated domains and servers used to operate the group’s primary website, Alqassam.ps, enabling investigators to intercept additional crypto donations.

The operation furnished the bureau with information on thousands of individuals who reached out to Hamas-linked platforms intending to donate via crypto or traditional payment methods, the department stated.
